To begin with, most organizations now a days are using social media to get themselves out there and to be noticed/heard of. They see that being active on social media and staying engaged with their audience makes their organization bigger and better. One organization that is doing good on social media is Starbucks. Starbucks "gets" social media, they are good with connecting with young people and know what their interest are. The way they engage with their followers is by using a lot of hash tags. Also, they post upcoming events or new design of a cup or new flavor of some sort on twitter. So that being said, people will go on twitter to stay up dated and get the latest news from them. Their target audience is young adults/ teenagers because they sell products that are loved by them. The way they talk to their followers is good to because they talk in a way that brings in all these young adults/teenagers to their account. As I said before, they use a lot of hash tags, constantly update their pictures, keeps everyone up to date, etc. Starbucks knows the language of the millenniums which makes them popular on Twitter.
The next big company that engages well with their audience is Play station. This type of industry is doing very well on Twitter because there are a lot of gamers in this generation and one of the main gaming companies is Play station. The way Play station uses social media is by keeping the gaming community informed on new games that are developing, or gaming events they are hosting, etc. The way Play station tweets is by posting a lot of pictures, videos, links and they pin their tweets for big events such as holiday promotions. They know what gamers are looking for and they deliver it the exact way they want it. They also interact with their fans by re tweeting their tweets! Their strategy to bringing in followers is by always letting their followers know information that wouldn't be shared any other place. They have 9 million followers and are still growing. Play station uses Twitter because they know there are millions of people who are looking for some type of gaming news account they are looking to follow. A account where they can get their daily gaming news.

Why am I at MATC?
My name is Kevin Pereira and I am currently attending Milwaukee Area Technical College. I am going there to get my Associate degree in IT Web and Software Developing. I chose to do this because I find it fascinating how technology works and how it benefits people. Without technology, we wouldn't be this far with everything we have, such as medicine, computers, phones, etc. My past work experience were at Dairy Queen and Dunkin Donuts. I started at Dairy Queen first at age 16, and I only worked there for the summer, June through August and than quit so I could get ready for school again. The year after I started at Dunkin Donuts. I started there on April when school was still in session, I decided to work and go to school at the same time so I could experience how it is to do both at the same time. I do have to admit it was hard, because on my senior year I would go to school and work on the weekends only. As time started to go by, I started getting pretty tired from working and going to school so I ended up leaving Dunkin Donuts so I could focus on school. After I quit, I started being more active outside. After I would do my school work, I would go for long walks, biking, and everything that I could possibly do when it came to the great outdoors. What I find interesting about technology is how the tech world works and how programmers make it function. When I was younger, every time I went on a website, I wondered "is it people who make this or robots or what??". And when my answer was answered I was hooked by the idea that is was people who did something called "coding", which by then I knew what I wanted to do in the future. My goal is to be able to develop websites and software. I have always told myself I couldn't do many great things but THIS will be my uplifting moment.
